Mid 90's? 90 HP Evinrude
Model # E90TLERC. Was serviced and running 2 to 3 years back and has since been sitting. Fuel may or may not have been stabilized. It's bolted to a worthless boat. Serial # G 03603519. Any opinions on what you would do with it?

First thing I would do is to try starting it off a fresh tank of gas and see what happens. Some ether might help. :)

What Mike said. Don't try and run it with the old gas. All you will do is gum up the fuel system. Even if it was stabilized, 2 or 3 years is too long to take a chance.

Parker’s marine in RI has everything you need for that engine and they’re pretty simple to work on

fresh fuel yes ( recommend a 50:1 mix for the first start up on an engine that has been sitting ..even if it is oil injected)...ether NO.... the nature of a 2 stroke engine exposes the inner working of the engine to the fuel charge ( in this case ether) a lot of dry parts will be subjected to heat and lack of lubricant ...ESPECIALLY one that has been sitting.... this makes using ether a no -no.. reason being the first place it goes is into the crank bearings.... I recommend removing and cleaning the carbs.... replacing the fuel pump before you try and run it... with that work done that old war horse will most likely fire right up...but before you do anything do a compression test to be sure all this trouble is worth it.

Wow, some old hats here with some great advice. Thanks! Assuming she fires up and runs good, what is the engine worth? I'm thinking of buying a little runabout (16' glastron) or something similar to put it on or if the wife veto's I may have to sell it.

That 90 will push a 17 Mako pretty nicely.
I just restored one last winter, and we get about 40 at WOT. Rockfish is right, not much market value there, but if you could find a hull, you could have a decent rig on the cheap. |
If this is a V4. Those things are built like tanks
