Squidding on the Cape
 

I will be on the cape for july 4 week and want to take my daughter squidding. We are not looking to fill a bucket...just catch enough for a little snack....like a dozen.

My daughter has an interest in sea creatures....so I think she will be excited to see and catch squid.

I have no idea where we can go to do this. We will be staying in Harwich but will drive.

If you're OK with introducing her to the land of confusion, there's always Macmilian's Wharf in Provincetown...

She is 8. We have been up there with her. She seems unphased and more focused on whatever her agenda is. I would guess that she just looks at them as a bunch of happy people who like eachother....hahahhaha. Granted...sometimes the antics up there can get mardi gras raunchy....I think we have been lucky with our timing and limiting it to daylight hours. But I think you are right, night fishing on the pier out there might turn over some rocks that might be best left alone.

I suppose this year is a good one to find squid at any harbor. Seems like the reports of squid suggest that it might be a banner year.

Also, you guys have jigs that you prefer for fishing for them. Please note them. I am a novice.

its easy to answer Gilly ? Daddy why do those woman have whiskers ? They are actors dressed as woman for a play . Worked for me until they got older and more worldly knowing .

I have one I bought some years ago and I ordered a couple yesterday, but the next time we see eachother I would dig hearing about your squidding experiences and which jigs you like to use.

They also do well in Hyannis....I'm not familiar with the Harwich water-line, but it's only a hop and skip from Hyannis...

There have been a lot of squid in the canal lately. Would not be surprised if squiddin is good at the bulkhead area after west turn at night

OK I know its "forbidden" to ask for specific spots....but I tried a few years ago and wasnt quite sure where on the wharf was allowed or not allowed any general rules? I felt like a criminal dropping a line over the side.....couldnt find any info online as to where was allowed (It could be there I just couldnt seem to find it in my searches) I get it if no one replies...but any general tips would be appreciated. Just looking to suppliment my beach fishing while Im down there with a couple hours of squid time. Thanks.
