Yozuri Floro knot slippage
 

What am I doing wrong? Picked up yo zuri floro in 25#. Been tying a Palomar knot my whole life and never had a knot slip. Had the knot slip twice today mid cast. Came back like spaghetti, didn’t break off, lost two metals....

Is it the line? My knot direct to tin? Never had this problem, any help would be appreciated. Going back to seaguar in the meantime...

Do you spit on your knots before you snug them up? That was a big help when I figured out that trick.

I don’t normally when tying my bass rigs and never had slippage, but I know you should. After the first lost tin, I wet the knot before cinching it down. The knot still pulled. I never have knots pull so this is pissing me off. It was suggested that I use a small clip but I’m wondering if the knot will still slip with this line...

That’s weird. I used the pink 15lb yozuri floro and haven’t had any knot issues. I only use the Palomar on braid. I use the regular cinch knot.

Bart, use the standard clinch knot and then do an overhand knot for insurance. Never, ever had one slip.

I just talked to a buddy of mine who fishes the Block regularly ( Paul you might know him, Max) and just happened to ask if he had used that line before and he said it’s garbage. He brought some to the Ledge with him and on two drops, he popped off two fish. Threw away the line when he got home and went back to seaguar.... no issues, stuck multiple jumbos the next night.

I knew that line was junk. Was starting to feel like I was losing my mind. Like I said, I’ve never had a palomar pull, whether it be a 40# bass in current or albies on light tackle. The line is YoZuri HD Carbon Flouro, I’d suggest staying away from it.

I lost my first 2 at block the other night also. Both times to broken leader. I changed back immediately and had no more issues.

The thing is my leader should’ve broken off instead of the knot slipping. The more force you put on the palomar, the stronger it gets. Was strange to me that it kept pulling. Either I was tying #^&#^&#^&#^&ty palomar knots, the most simple of knots, for the first time, or it was the line. I’m going with the line on this one.

I remember Max. You know I've never been a big Flouro guy. I know a lot of guys swear by it but back in the day "He who cannot be mentioned" and I used nothing but 50# Ande Back Country for our leaders and never had an issue.

I only use flouro for funny fish. Like you, I use Ande 50 or 60 for bass and I've never had issues either. Hope all is well...
