Garmin echomap plus 94SV review
This spring I updated all the electronics on my 18' center console...originally I installed a Lowrance hook 2 9TS. I chose the Lowrance for its simplicity and because I've ran Lowrance for 40 years...it didn't live up to expectations and had other issues I won't get into here West Marine took it back and I purchased the Garmin echo map plus (touch screen )..this machine was $300 more than the Lowrance but 5 times the machine. .Originally I was worried about a touch screen on an open boat..my fears have been unfounded. .it is easy to.use and a pleasure to use at night..the side scan shows more detail than the hook2 did and the machine is NEMA 0183 and NEMA 2000 compatible (the hook was not )it also has its own WiFi and has a Garmin pantopix compatible..port. The only negative I could come up with is it only accepts Garmin cartology...I did add the Garmin G2 vision card.. but the base map was pretty good..I'd recommend this Machine to Any one looking for a mid priced chart plotter/fish finder combo...IMHO Garmin has come along way the last few years with their fish finders
