Broke the ice in a major way
2 Attachment(s)
Scouted some ice Friday night that had three inches. Went back with my gear and 18 shiners Saturday morning and had to have 3 dozen more shiners dropped off by my dad in an hour. Non stop action until I ran out of bait. Multiple tripples throughout the day. I never got all my type in at once. Total approximately 30 bass and 2 pickerel. Got to love first ice!

Awesome! One thing I miss since leaving Western MA is early ice.

Love fishing, but never got to excited about watching flags and standing on a cold hard surface. Tried it a number of times in my youth, but decided skiing was my go to cold weather activity. I loved some of those ice free winters back in my freshwater days, I’d hit a guy in Marshfield that used to sell grass shrimp and I’d head to the cape for smallmouth bass. I’d anchor up over deep water structure, drop a paper bag with a rock and handful of shrimp after twisting the top to slow the release of the chum. Something about a 4 lb smallmouth rocketing into the air next to the boat in February that never got old, those were the winters I rarely skied.
