DME and NSI gone, some well know breweries may be in trouble
Not sure how well the named breweries are set up to handle this but there could be some shakeout of sorts .... (Hobo, Notch, Foam, Maine, Night Shift, Tired Hands....) Time will tell, but it could get a bit ugly.
The financial failure of DME Brewing Solutions (DME) and Newlands Systems (NSI) has put millions of dollars of equipment into a homeless state, potentially waiting to be sold to a new company owner or put up for auction. In the meantime, deposits by Canadian and American brewers are essentially lost as creditors claw for whatever may remain or could be added to DME and NSI's accounts. DME’s list of unsecured brewery creditors features a host of well-known producers, including 10 Barrel Brewing, Anchorage Brewing, Diageo, Foam Brewers, Labatt, Lord Hobo, Maine Beer Company, Monday Night Brewing, Moosehead Breweries, New Belgium Brewing, Night Shift Brewing, Notch Brewing, Tired Hands Brewing, and Wicked Weed, among many others. |

I would think someone would step up with support
Stainless process piping and vessels is something dairy fabricators deal with all the time Its beer not rocket science But craft brewers like it that people think it’s magic Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Sorry for my snarky comment.
It’s a free market and brewers will find someone to make equipment. My guess is China is supplying brewers with equipment at a lower price and as a result these companies that are going under can’t compete. DME is based out of Nova Scotia if I remember right.. that’s a hard place to do business out of due to a number of reasons. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Are you saying the owner companies are failed? Or the angel companies?
|
Sounds like the owner company.
Vessel sourcing is not the issue. Others out there. Not sure I would use China stainless steel. Can be less "stainless" if you know what I mean. I guess I care about some small businesses I buy from taking a hit from the DME failure. Some are saying that there may be some resulting closures of these small businesses, but I have not seen any detailed assessment that drove them to that conclusion. |
