Peepers 2019
Heard them last night. First time I noticed them. Late this year compared to past years' postings
|
Same here, Ross. 5/0 said he heard them last Friday and he’s the next town over from me.

Heard them early evening yesterday for the first time this year. Several weeks later than last year. However, last year we had them early March and then it was cold and snowy and they disappeared until beginning of April.

Heard them tonight. Funny I was thinking about this thread when I heard them

I was thinking about this annual thread as I was listening for them last night ; ) |
First time last night in NW RI. Half my pond is ice. the other half is open and faces South so the peeps figured it out.
|
Started hearing them earlier this week in Somerset. Love that sound!
|
I first noticed them last Wednesday night along the cost in Connecticut. Stood in the front yard with my wife & son for about 5 minutes just after sunset listening to them sing away!
|
If I recall correctly, the peepers were a signal that the herring runs were likely starting to get busy, and the first dandelions were a sign to look for the first scouts/schoolies…. I think MikeP told me that.

Peepers are peepin' up by me. (kingston, ma). Lilacs are the the real signal that its time to start casting. I love this thread though, makes me want to get yard work done!!

Haven't heard peepers yet, but every morning turkeys are gobbling up a storm.
