New boat ramp from hell

I fish freshwater every spring and fall in a pond or river depending on how you describe it, with a herring run. For as long as I can remember, you could barely fit two boat trailers in the available parking and getting a boat in was always a challenge with the dirt ramp.

Never fear the state or army Corp of engineering came to the rescue and designed to most absurd boat ramp you can imagine. The ramp is narrow, but maybe they were hoping to keep it to smaller boats, but come on guys. Now everyone on this board would agree there needs to be a straight section of pavement to pull a boat in and and out To avoid delays. No they decided they would put heavy duty pressure treated fencing there right as you pull a boat out forcing you to turn left immediately and launching is a joke without a straight area in front of the ramp. Yet beyond the fencing is a huge gravel parking lot for dozens of boats.

Wasted tax or license money there. I’d love to find out who designed it so I can compliment them on setting up a jackknife show every weekend.

On the plus side today, I wasn’t the only one fishing, I was joined by dozens of ospreys, a bald eagle, a couple king fishers and to my surprise a couple of otters. I’ve fished this river for decades and never seen otters, that was pretty cool. Mostly pickeral and some small bass, but what else can you expect in this April from hell.

boat ramps

John I hear you brother. I have always wondered who designs boat ramps. They sure as hell don't trailer boats. Entrance road at ramp should be double wide to avoid grid lock.If there are two boats in the water trying to get out and two boats waiting to go in on trailers in the line, the boats trying to get out are in grid lock! The trailers waiting to go in would have to move to let the in water trailers retrieve their boats! Makes no sense to me.The sandwich ma ramp has dock masters and these problems are avoided. The days of courtesy are long gone it's all about me me me .
