Moscow Mitch

And you worry about professors

Sen. Mitch McConnell's net worth:

2005: $2,962,015
2015: $26,927,535
Increase: $23,965,520 (+809.1%)

How does a senator earning $193,400 a year increase their net worth by nearly $2.4 million a year, every year for a decade?

The Top 3 US senators by wealth all have a "D" next to their name, maybe they have the answer.

Sen. Mark Warner Democrat Virginia $243.2M
Sen. Dianne Feinstein Democrat California $94.5M
Sen. Richard Blumenthal Democrat Connecticut $85.0M

and there's this too.....

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/mi...ell-net-worth/

What's True
U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell experienced an influx of family wealth in 2008 due to an inheritance his wife received.

What's False
McConnell didn't mysteriously increase his net worth by $2.4 million every year over the course of a decade while serving in the Senate.

As Senate Majority Leader, McConnell received an annual salary of $193,400, but the Kentucky Republican reported an influx of family wealth between $5 million and $25 million in 2008, according to his financial disclosures. That influx was the result of an inheritance his wife received upon the death of her mother, and that information has been part of public discourse since 2014, when it became campaign fodder for McConnell’s Democratic opponent, Allison Lundergan Grimes

and this right here is my favorite part:

In late February 2019, a misleading meme was circulated on Facebook that led viewers to ask whether U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky had mysteriously amassed vast wealth in yearly increments to the tune of $2.4 million while in office

As you said previously

"Can't be right then if its from Snopes...or is it only right when it suits what you are saying but bogus when it debunks it."

Pick one then.

https://checkyourfact.com/2019/01/27...th-27-million/

"McConnell’s wealth has increased dramatically over the last decade or so. OpenSecrets estimates that in 2006, McConnell’s net worth was somewhere between $2.3 and $8.5 million. The increase is often attributed to an inheritance Chao received after the death of her mother in 2007. The gift was valued at somewhere between $5 and $25 million, according to McConnell’s financial disclosure report for 2008."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.4f6ac848681c

"So what happened in 2008? His financial disclosure form tells the story—suddenly there appeared a tax-exempt money market fund, valued at between $5 million and $25 million, listed as a “gift from a filer’s relative.

Indeed, a McConnell spokesman confirms that this was an inheritance for McConnell’s wife, former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, after her mother died in 2007. Chao, who married McConnell in 1993, earns significant income on her own, serving on corporate boards, and has at least $1 million in a Vanguard 500 Index Fund. (Since these shares are in her name, McConnell only needs to report they have a minimum value of $1 milllion.)"

https://www.factcheck.org/2014/10/gr...-on-mcconnell/

"The ad also paints McConnell as “a multimillionaire who voted repeatedly for pay raises for himself and other senators.” But the ad is cherry-picking, ignoring other votes McConnell has cast to prevent automatic pay increases for members of Congress. And the fact that McConnell is a multimillionaire has less to do with his congressional pay and much more to do with his wife’s money."

Or perhaps hyperbole.

Moscow Mitch's latest achievement

Leader McConnell
@senatemajldr
The Senate just confirmed @POTUS's impressive nominee for the critical role of @USUN Ambassador: Kelly Knight Craft of #Kentucky. I’m confident our entire nation will be proud of the fine service she will render as our Ambassador to the United Nations.

The “impressive” nominee:
-Is married to coal CEO; both are major Trump/ Mitch donors;
-First time *ever* for big donor in UN job
-In that job before: future prez (GHWB), former SCOTUS (Goldberg), true heavyweights (Moynihan, Kirkpatrick, Adlai S)
etc
Mitch never disappoints

I see you've moved on from the defense of your meme. Good for you. Nothing to see there I guess.

I'm not really concerned if his wife's family built a successful business...good for them living the American dream.

Doesn't explain why he refuses to let even bi-partisan bills on nobrainer election security get a vote. All our intel groups and the Mueller report are unanimous on Russian election interference yet Trump and his lackeys refuse to accept it for partisan reasons that go against all reason.

Anyone actually cool with this?

Well PeteF was very concerned, concerned enough to start this thread. You may want to talk some sense into him.
