Favorite Sluggo?

Since I fish these bad larry's all the time, I was just wondering what everyone's faorites were before I ordered some more (Their website has some colors I haven't seen, but need to fish:D ).

Personally, I am VERY partial to pink, but white and yellow work too.

little jerk pearl, then my schoolie maker, zoom fluke white pearl. you have to replace the zooms after 1 fish though, they fall apart wicked fast.

macojoe 09-04-2003 04:28 PM

I have fished them a little by boat and the pink has worked for me. But is there a color that the dog fish don't like??
I was getting better last year with them as I was not letting sit as much so the dog fish were less likly to grab them.

ledgerunners are much better// in 99% of the fishing conditions//////////////////////////

Trust me """""""":D

Mike P 09-04-2003 06:41 PM

6" and 9" red shad.

BigBo 09-04-2003 08:09 PM

Ledgerunners:D
I've had some very good success with GS's smoke split tails with holographic glitter, pearl split tails, 9" megajerk black over gray, and 8" curly tail grubs also in smoke with glitter.:D
Yessiree Bob, they out swim sluggos any day of the week.

rocketman 09-04-2003 09:22 PM

Chartruese in the rivers and white in the salt.

Bill L 09-04-2003 09:26 PM

White, 3" Pink for the worm hatch. Rainbow trout used to be my favorite, but I ran out and never re-stocked :smash:

jeffsod 09-04-2003 09:43 PM

Arkansas shiner

Scotch Bonnet 09-04-2003 10:01 PM

6" white rigged Texas Style. Killer.

BasicPatrick 09-04-2003 11:57 PM

The Arkansas shiner was always a good one but I just can not bet a way from PEARL

bdsandman 09-05-2003 09:43 AM

I with Mike P. 9" red shad.

Neat trick I learned quite by accident. Throw a couple of 9" red shad in a baggy with any lighter colored sluggos like rainbow trout or smelt. Leave them for a while. The red will bleed into the other slugs and make a great slug for using at false dawn or dusk in the canal. This also works great with the grey over black ledgerunners.

RIJIMMY 09-05-2003 09:55 AM

Need some guidnace... I bought some 9" sluggos Ark Shiners...used it once and never tried it again...... am I missing out? I dont see the advantage over a swimmer like a mambo. I'm talking purely surf casting and not weighing them down with a jig head. Its seems people rave over these things adn I just dont have confidence in it. Do you use them at night? Jet cast, jerk and reel?

Christian 09-05-2003 10:15 AM

yes

CSK 09-05-2003 10:38 AM

Black 6" 9" Red shad in the same and Tequila in 6" Why they don't make a 9" tequila(and I've asked) is beyond me.

All this being said, LedgeRunners are a far superior product. Better rubber, glitter, scented, tons of great colors.

MountainBreeze 09-05-2003 10:45 AM

LedgeRunners ... BubbleGum LedgeRunners ... :D

Rappin Mikey 09-05-2003 12:22 PM

Bass Assassins (6" albino shad) blue and pearl.

schoolie monster 09-05-2003 01:03 PM

Smoke over clear ledgerunner in 6" and 5 1/2" splittail... those are my "go to" lure.

I also like the 6" in olive when fishing the cape/nantucket to match the sandeels.
