Do tackle shops sell rigged eels?
I'm really lazy and the thought of rigging them myself grosses me out....do shops sell these?
Do any of you rig them and want to sell some ...RI or eastern MAss? |
get friendly with the tackle shop maybe they would do it for you.
(if you drop enough coin...) course the mortality rate for your bait will go way up. you may need special packaging too... never seen em sold pre-rigged. |
I think RIJimmy was refering to already dead eels, rigged with 1 or 2 hooks.
The only place I know that sells pre rigged eels is in Long island, and I'm guessing that won't be too much helpl;) |
Hmmm... any of you want to send me your dead eels after a longday of fishing? I will rig em and sell em :)
|
Got a few in my bait freezer, but NO, you can't have them.....;)
Buck up, and rig them yourself.....it's not that gross (no worse than gutting a fish), and it's fun, and fairly easy! Saltheart has a thread around here somewhere on how to do it..... |
You could build a Keep Cool Eel bucket!! And never throw away a eel for weeks.
I have one and its great!! I told everyone about them a while ago and some have made them. You can go and see it in the How to section of this board! |
30 odd years ago there was an outfit that rigged eels and they were sold by the Bait & Tackle Shops in glass jars. They were pickled in brine and would be right stiff when first starting to use them but by dunking and working them in your hand they would soon flex almost like a live eel.
Sorry I can't reach back into my brain and come up with a name of the outfit that packaged them but someone might recall! |
With Stetzkos' Mr. Wiggly lures who needs rigged eels.
|
Just the thought of some o you old timers working your stiff eels till they get all loose and wrigglyhas really given me the willys!!
