Blues Blitz around the poppy water and PEANUT BUNKERS!

I was out all day at the cape with a friend of mine for fishing. We chased from the mouth of Popponset Bay to the west of the south cape beach. We drove back and forth for the blues. S!%% man, you shoulda seen them on the surface. There was a school of 5 lbs class chomping on PEANUT BUNKERS! Guess what? They are here! Get your kastmaster or swedish pimple out and cast them on your light tackle gear. BAM! :D

Bil and Juls, I used the atom swipers and used the retrieve you taught me for popers. It works. Thanks. However, I bought your teaser rig and caught two of them and lost the fly and the fish. And I used mine homemade teaser rig and lost it too because I used a 20 lbs test fluro leader. :) I used the Chubs Creek silver poppers. They just love it. But no basses yet. Another time and my time will soon come.

We caught almost 20 or less blues today. The blitz lasted a couple of minutes. I noticed that when blues see the school of peanut bunkers or boat around, they tend to swim away, but casting into them will bring them back. I kept five of them. I released the others for another day of fighting.

Oh another thing, when I boated a blues, it jumped up and almost bite my private part off.

Hey Notaro, good for you buddy!!!!!!! see what I mean you get better every day. I should have mentioned that if you are in a definate blue blitz to put a 10 inch steel leader on. Will save you alot of money and flies.

We got some nice choppers today, ouside the harbor past Theives ledge. There was a crap load out there just finnin on the surface. Biggest ones got dropped. they were probably around 10 lbs!!! average was about 7-8 lbs.;)   Not many bass today though.

Thanks, Juls, you and BC are the bombs! That's schwect. I hope that I can sqeeze myself in for the haba shore fishing with time availability. I noticed that when I tossed my kastmaster w/ a green tube (3 oz), I tend to lose a blues. I gotta sharpen my hook more. Is a 3 oz too much for a blues?

 *gasps* WeeWee, not my eel! Never done that before, but would like to see if it could bite my eel (not literally mine...) after slining it. Then I would experiment if a feleme pre-rigged eel works or not.

Notaro, shouldn't have a problem with that castmasta, blues shake there head pretty good after being hooked up and if ya don't keep that line tight with a single hook it gives them the opportunity to shake it loose. Keep trying you will get um on it.

You can always try and use a castmaster with a little bucktail on it. maybe will work better for you. But it is more about keepin that line tight to land them!!!!

You know it big boy!!!!! What did Jimmy's blue weigh in at???????

Van 09-08-2003 10:05 AM

The shop was closed.
If we weigh it in today, it probably lost another 2lbs.

Looks like it goes on the grill....

I'm still thinking of getting out tomorrow. We shall see.
