Gannets feeding

I don’t know what they were diving on, but hundreds were and are still diving off white horse beach below me. Walked down to the beach with binoculars, but couldn’t determine what they were feeding on. I’ve lived here for ten years and never seen gannets feeding in close to the beach.

I think I read they can get down about 15ft. Boy the hit the water with some force. Must be one tough bird.

I've watched them on the nature channels, but to watch them up close with binoculars it's pretty amazing and then they can swim underwater, evolution at it's best.

I've seen them up at the Mouth of the Merrimac, pretty wild to watch.
