Every month I see my old McKee Craft in the OTW classified and every month I’m glad I don’t have the work, headaches and expense of owning a boat. I’m filling my freezer with good eaters faster than I did owning a boat and getting some exercise while doing it.

Trailering around keeps me interested,,, BB tomorrow, Brant Rock Tuesday.... just keep kicking is the idea,,, you know! |
Love the new boat. Going deep soon!

Trailering my boat gives me the highest level of anxiety possible...
Mainly because I don't take proper preventative care of my trailer and my bearings have blown 3 times on the road. Now I only trailer it 2x per season to the launch to put it on a mooring and then pick it up.. and I hate every second of trailering. |

I’ll launch just before first light to have a particular ramp all to myself when alone,,,, |

Personally and it’s just me and maybe I’m young and dumb but enjoy having a 17’ boat with single axle trailer with no brakes. I tow it from Norfolk to the cape all year. Grease the hubs several times a year and always carry a spare hub assembly only takes 10 min to swap out on the road if need be as well as having one if not two spare tires a good jack and proper tools. I like the option to drop in at multiple places in several states so I can dodge the crowds and be on my own schedule. I always think about upgrading and going bigger but realize new problems will ride those coat tails. Just installed new steering cables and forward reverse and rebuilt my controller so hoping I can get through the rest of this year fingers crossed

Trailers is the biggest headache in boating. I completely rebuilt mine, single axle, no brakes, bearing buddies, and wash that thing religiously.
That being said, I have found strategic boat yards to make it so that I rarely trailer over 5 miles each time I launch. Only time we run a long way is moving the boat from one yard to the next. Gup is being modest...he trailers like a demon. Way better driver than most. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
