Upper Bay Slow this fall?
Hi Everyone, I read alot of the posts on this board and find the info very helpfull but very seldom post. I do most of my local fishing in the Upper reaches of Narragansett bay, usually around the Barrington area. This is my 5th year fishing around there and this is by far the slowest I have ever seen it. Were are all the Bluefish that are usaully tearing into the bunker this time of year? Maybe just a slow start or could it be that the water conditions are not very good? Any input would be interesting to hear.

I'm out there pretty often and in my opinion, I think the season was a little behind schedule in comparison to last year...and I'm definately NOT seeing the same amount of bait around. I hope it's just me and all those schools are right around the corner but I'm still only seeing small schools of baitfish, the boaters would have more info on the bait situation because they cover more ground..hee :D hee..I mean water....but there ARE plenty of fish around, I repeat...THERE ARE PLENTY OF FISH AROUND and many more biggens' than last year too. Don't limit your spots, I only found fish at the 3rd spot tonight..the tide sucked and no wind so it was a little harder. No size to the fish but as long as I'm wetting a line the chance exists...and BLOOS :af: they're tearing up the finish on my Tattoo=made lures, plenty of those toothy-basstages around....ask Clammer :smash:...If your area is flooded with bait, don't you worry...the blues WILL find them.
..until then, move around until you find them...they're around. :) |
I don't see anywhere near the activity off Warwick as the past few years...
|
..we should have thought about dropping a few tablets of Viagra in the water while the fish were mating...:smash: :laughs:

Could it be that the problem is not overfishing of the species we crave but rather, overfishing/low populations of the food those fish crave???
Hmm - maybe the factory ships out thear gathering trash fish for catfood are actually stealing my Stripers dinner!! Now that is something that should be studied!! |

trust me there is a ton of bait in the upper bay & there will be bass on them when its time/// as far as @#$%^&^ bluefish there are plenty out there==============even at Barrington I think the last couple of years guys in the upper bay got spoiled=that is not the norm.=usually you have to almost try & find them whereas the fish were jumping on the beach & in the boat/// You have to do what Bloo said ,,move around,,,,they are not going to sit & wait for ya I can go out right now & make ten trips & fill the boat with blues each time =but I,m waiting for the bass to start or I have to travel further, where they have been going good for at least two weeks//// ITS NOT ALWAYS HIGH TIDE:cool: |

just got off the phone with someone==who said they are driving on the beach up there some where //bass & blues mixed=============will have to check it out this evening to see if hes right///////////////:rolleyes: |
I was at Barrington Saturday; they were about half a mile out, never came in. Supposedly, they came in on Friday around 4:30. I
think the fish kills may have had some effect on the Warwick area. :( |
