Heard that on the news, sad news for any family this time of year, especially in 2020.

This week I heard a report that the Emmy Rose was run down and sunk by a barge under tow.... Said everyone was asleep on Emmy Rose. Had tried to hail them on radio. Was in shipping lanes. Tug stood by after collision that they must have felt.

So, anyone else heard this outcome? My source is pretty well connected in the commercial fishing circles and he was surprised I had not heard this report.

My buddy Dennis, gone now RIP, told me he’s in fog , night?, hears a strange noise, looks up his antenna was banging against a huge steel cable... screwed out of there , never seen it go by....

Isn't there like a mile of cable between the tug and the barge? A lot can happen in a mile..

The owner of the 82-foot Emmy Rose wants a Maine federal court judge to declare that it is not liable for damages in the sinking. No mention of a collision?

Source standing by his story. Says he got accident report from another captain of owner.....(he has multiple F/V) Not public due to lawsuits and indictments. If that pans out, I will have a whole new opinion of news, news reporting, fake news, and what we have come to accept as ok....

Still just awful end result for men and their families. All that's left is about money now....

Emmy Rose wreckage has been located...

Tragic. There’s a tug and barge that runs jet fuel from the refineries in NJ to Logan .. I wonder if that was the tug that was involved? With AIS it should be beyond easy to trace what happened, assuming that both vessels were transmitting.
