October all ready?
Where did the time go?
Didnt get out as much as I would have liked to this season.....work comes first. Hopefully by next summer I will be collecting ss and working part time. Boat is holding up just fine.....My youngest goes around 240# said "no way that swim step is going to hold me"..... "try it" i said knowing full well that it would. |
The year has flown by, I am excited for Tog season here in CT opening the 10th to get my kids out and on some fish.

Tog limit 5 started Oct. 1,,,, been good

But I just saw in the rules it is 10 per boat or 5 per angler which each is less. So 4 of you go out for a togfest event and its Only 10 not 20 Crazy rule if I read it right. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
you're reading it right

I circled today on the calendar when I saw the forecast for temperatures in the 70s today and tomorrow. Will spend the afternoon pressure washing the hull after hauling out for the season. Spent too many cold days in the 40s doing this when I have waited until the very last day or two in the month.

Winterization complete, frame up and cover is on. 13th year on that custom cover from boatcoversdirect.com..... (Paid $370 back in 2009, when shrink wrap was running at $300/year. Less than $29/yr. What did you pay for shrink wrap this year?) Backed her in next to the garage and we're done. For the moment. I will pull the batteries after this noreaster.... Also need to order a trim sender as a piece broke off, and it won't work without a good one in place... probably around $200 for the part is my prepandemic price guess...

I love the cover, and it has a robust zip over the wheel for access. |
I use a cover too $300 lasts a solid 3-4 years. Much more economical than shrink. Would last longer but small branches seem to get me every few years

I’ve moved away from shrink wrap too $$$$
I buy a 19 x 29’ heavy duty black/silver tarp from harbor freight. $65 or so You can even get more than one year from it. Good stuff Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Put up a big shelter & be done with it.
Mine is 36x18x18 & my 34x12.8 Downeast boat stays dry & warm 👍 Shelter is going on 15 years old Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

Ray its the way to go. I usually get 3 years or so out of a tarp that costs $100. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

There is a ShelterLogic being offered on marketplace for reasonable money. Just shy of length I would need to do winter projects inside of... Made me think of Ronnie's.....jealously.

Yup This thing is awesome Only thing that sucks, it gets hot as Hell in there during the summer should I take on some fiberglass work. Winter time when my boat is in it I have heat. Have a Hot Dog hung hot air unit mounted high. Runs on propane. |
Wow! Nice. I hadn't even thought about overhead lights.... First class!
And I now see that thruster.... I like a thruster, just didn't expect you to have one, for some reason. |

Now there is a pic of a boat Ronnie’s that knows how to block a boat
So many times I walk boatyards and see one set of blocks up the bow and one way at the stern usually a yard with a travelall. I don’t care how good the boat is built. It isn’t happy like that. Lots of stress. Thus a boat that size 34. Put a set in the middle. And the blocks are cribbed. Many places don’t crib. Drives me nuts My only change. I make blocks from PT 2 x 8’s with a 2 x 6 tee in the middle. Strong and easy to move around. 24” long Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Has anyone used mildew bags for winter storage?

There are about 40 4’ LED fixtures. Best thing, all 40 added up, the draw is next to nothing. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
