Clamfest at the beach today

Took a ride over to Duxbury Beach this afternoon. While going over the PP Bridge, it looked like hundreds of gulls were working the water! I figured it was folks walking their dogs scaring the gulls, but the gulls were up for hundreds of yards and there were hundreds of them (which I think is weird at the beach this time of year).

Anyway, the surf was awesome. Large rollers hitting the low tide mark.
Sea Clams were all over the beach and the gulls were having a feast! Pretty cool sight.

I did not see clams, but am sure they were there... Plenty of rocks and sand on the causeway. Three or four hours after high, we took a ride. Audi, BMW, and a Honda in the beach parking lot, buried to their doors, getting hooked up to tow truck... dumbasses.

Correct me if I’m wrong but technically they make you have a license to scour the beach for bait clams. Ridiculous.

Depends on the town. When I lived in Bourne, you didn't need a license to harvest sea clams, and the limit was one bushel a week, IIRC.

These the same sea clams that are used for clam strips? Would love to get my hands on some of them. Local markets don't seem to carry them.

Collected a bunch of big cohogs yesterday off white horse beach, not for bait but cottage summer decorations.
