Very cool. I would love to learn how to find owls. I hear plenty, but other than seeing a few great horned in the nest and a gray out west, I never see them.

Very cool I have these tiny owls every spring a little bit bigger than a soda can . Only saw 1 of them years ago but hear them all the time.

Also when I worked in the prison on tower duties on the overnights. With an active barn cows pigs rats cats . The owls would camp out on the perimeter light poles some had to be almost 2 feet tall and silent when they flew

We used to sneak into a reservoir in Lincoln Ma. at the De Cordova Museum small mouth bass fishing we had to be out at dark because they locked the gate

Just as it turned pitch black I made a cast as we were walking out (because you all know always need 1 last cast) I hooked up with a big fish, as the fish was thrashing around on top a huge Owl flew out of the trees and came so close to the top of my head I dropped to the ground, it grabbed the fish and flew away, Me and my buddy just looked at each other and bolted to the car so we didn't get locked in

I find early morning is best, just as it starts to get a little light. The contrast in the trees is great. "Usually", once you find them, they hang in the same general area. Barred owls and Great horned owls seem to like big pines (for the most part), usually hanging near the trunk (but not always). Screech owls seem to hang in cavities of old oaks, and cherries. The seem to like to show themselves in the bight afternoon hours. I assume to get warmth. Once spring/summer comes and the leaves start popping it gets harder and harder to find them

I looked that one up and listened to a recording. I’ve heard them around

But after listening to more recordings we definitely have a Eastern Screech-Owls Around.

I Need to look harder. any suggestions on finding them during the day.

I have 3huge pines and 2 equal sized cedar trees and a blacks walnut clumped together they seem to like

It funny When I fist moved in we had Green parrot colony but a new homeowner had it removed

And last year had a Stelllers eagle from Asia along the Taunton river.

And before that a beluga whale

Pretty crazy to see. There is a colony of Monk Parakeets in Winthrop as well

Owls are my favorite.
