Providence River
So I have a part time Gig as a line handler in providence River for tankers offloading on both sides of the river .
And to my surprise over the past 2 weeks there has been dead peanut Bunker all over the place and I saw 1 full size bunker swimming erratically in circles .. this morning the same dead peanut bunker Not sure if it has anything to do with the Tugs creating turbulence and drowning them That seems to be the only thing that happens At every dock . Could be pollution? But it’s not hundreds of fish just a few dozen . Any thoughts? |
I Dun No
The tug sounds about right… pollution would be larger numbers maybe…. We’re gonna need them next month. ;-) |
I did see some pretty big schools of peanut bunker most in the 4 -5 inch range big enough for a few osprey to pick them off . And must be a thousand gulls working . I don’t see anything under the bait but it sure looked like something was going on

No way it's that crowded, could these have been trapped over the winter and just died of natural causes.
