Providence River

So I have a part time Gig as a line handler in providence River for tankers offloading on both sides of the river .

And to my surprise over the past 2 weeks there has been dead peanut Bunker all over the place and I saw 1 full size bunker swimming erratically in circles .. this morning the same dead peanut bunker

Not sure if it has anything to do with the Tugs creating turbulence and drowning them That seems to be the only thing that happens At every dock . Could be pollution? But it’s not hundreds of fish just a few dozen . Any thoughts?

I Dun No
The tug sounds about right… pollution would be larger numbers maybe…. We’re gonna need them next month. ;-)

I did see some pretty big schools of peanut bunker most in the 4 -5 inch range big enough for a few osprey to pick them off . And must be a thousand gulls working . I don’t see anything under the bait but it sure looked like something was going on

There isn't. IT's BS:bs:

Got Stripers 04-17-2023 12:56 PM

No way it's that crowded, could these have been trapped over the winter and just died of natural causes.

Clammer 04-17-2023 03:45 PM

Does it really matter :buds:

There are many more alive ones that are 5 inches long . Than dead ones

Starvation maybe ?

Its just we here this every year // then the tv stations get involved

then they wake up Moses , & rip van winkle so now the DEM

has to respond & that,s always a f #^&#^&#^&#^&#^& tasks with them

they repond on all the social media sites , including fox & CNN

bottom line ......lets guess ... not enough [air] to breath

Southern CC Bay towards Sandwich has had a loss of oxy for the past couple yrs,,,,, a little out from there, 65-70’ , the bugs came up with no zip to them,,, oxy starvation I assumed….
