Weekend Plans

Going to hang out with roommate from30 years ago and check out some GT40s at the track - should be fun

What's up for the weekend?

piemma 07-26-2024 09:21 AM

Super Bowl of golf for Franklin CC. Working all weekend.

JFigliuolo 07-26-2024 10:16 AM

If wind cooperates, fishing this evening with the clam man.

piemma 07-26-2024 11:56 AM

Joe, love to go with you in a few weeks when things calm down at the CC, I'll buy gas , food and bait. I'm working a ton so i have the cash.

We can make that happen... sounds fun

Going to dinner on Saturday with some friends we haven't seen in a while, life gets in the way sometimes. Not much planned otherwise. Most likely take the dog to the water front to swim and yard work.

Got Stripers 07-26-2024 03:32 PM

Golf tomorrow and got an invite from a friend to do some sea bass and fluke fishing out of Westport sunday, looking forward to getting out again.

Good luck. Sea Bass was ok yesterday. Fluke were very scarce on some very reliable grounds off newport/sakonnet.

Not the dreaded VST filter. I read some people just remove it period

I have caught more bones so far this year than Black Sea bass or fluke

It’s been so bad I’ve decided it’s not worth the gas to even try..

Fix lawn mower so I can do yardwork (*&^%^. Maybe do 100 hr service on Yamaha if kit arrives on time. Fish early Sunday am and take dog to club for walk.

Plenty of sea bass around, But we had probably 40:1 short to keepers (and they weren’t big, just legal). Lots to pick through to get a limit. All on jigs.

Just legal limit tastes just as good as a limit of big knot heads.

Last night was dinner with my better half, then cocktails by the fire. Threw a pork butt on the smoker last night at 11:30, should be coming off around 4:00 PM today. Right now just listening to tunes on the deck and sipping on a beer.

Tomorrow shoot some trap, hopefully. Then just chill for the rest of the day.

Damn, Ray. Don't say that.... I prefer to think of it as; it takes less time or outings on the water to scratch that itch....
Wish I knew then what I know now....

It's strange. I have been boatless since 2014. 10 years and all of a sudden I have the urge to buy a boat again.

Same urge hit me a while back, glad I did. Easier to hit the water with less wear and tear on the old body. This am we caught keeper fluke and sea bass. As well as a lot of stripers up to slot sized on light plugging and flyrods - all within 1-2 miles of one another.

piemma 07-28-2024 02:15 PM

I'm looking but Jeanne doesn;t know yet

Got Stripers 07-28-2024 03:06 PM

Great day off some deeper structure within sight of Cutty, two easy limits of nice sea bass and a good number of fluke, we each took one home pushing 22”. Not often you get a light breeze day with cloud cover so your not baking.

Clammer 07-28-2024 06:26 PM

200 HP

:agree:

Blasted down the river into a thick fog, couldn't see a dang thing, but kept slowly pushing forward thanx to the Garmin, hit spot X all was clear.... sun only peeked out for about 10 minutes, the cloud cover made all the difference - very comfortable out there

Bones exploding on whatever you threw, not finickee at all...my ride-along was able to tick another species off his bucket list, ....ramps were insane though, combination of aquapalooza and jazz festival I guess
