New Boat Trailer

Towards the end of last season I got home from a fun day catching gator blues near gooseberry. I noticed the boat was listing on the trailer and thought maybe I had loaded it off center. Got down and noticed the cracked frame. and realized I was lucky to make it home without a disaster. It was both frames...front and rear

We had just spent a lot of money refurbishing g our 48 year old home and it looks great...so i felt I would have to wait. Wife came to the rescue....came back from the casino a few weeks later with an envelope and handed it to me. She saw how hard i worked on the house all summer and took pity.

I had good luck buying from Defender Marine in CT. Good price on a bunk trailer when I upgraded mine a couple of seasons ago.

Thanks... Had a local dealer with one in stock......... made the swap in about three hours by myself. There were a few dicey moments moving blocks and jacks a few times to do it.

Glad it worked out. Mines a 2014. And starting to look rough. One good bump and who knows. My next will be a bunk

Thanks....the new one fits the boat better ....the narrower width is better for launching and parking and gives me room in my shop where it's stored.

Thanks Gup....I put side guards/guides back on to keep the hull from hitting the fenders. Also need the pvc pipe extensions back on there...i couldnt see the boat when backing down the ramp without them.

I was wondering about the fenders hitting. Either putting the guides back on or raising the bunks but you saw this and fixed!

Boat is still very clean. I don’t see a ding on it! Take a 20 Oz bank weight and throw it at the boat so I feel better about all the dings on mine.

Thanks beamie...Its got a few dings but overall the two part epoxy paint has held up great. The keelgaurd payed for itself when my brother took the helm and gently maneuvered us onto a submerged rockpile. I made some modifications to the side guides to get them where they were needed. I played around with different bunk heights and preferred it lower than the top of the fenders so Itll float sooner.

We switched to a bunk, and since I (hopefully) trailer a few times a year (launch/haul and maintenance as needed) it works well, BUT add the plastic bunk slides to them, makes it much easier to pop on and off the trailer.
