I got my needles primed this morning. Ive got some nice pine leftover from last year so was thinking I might try and turn a few fat swimmer prototypes, something along the lines of a nike.

I haven't turned birch before but I will try some next winter. Until this season I really hadn't had any splitting issues with the soft maple and I really enjoy working with & turning it.
