As with ALL news media, if it doesn't happen TO a person of color then it didn't happen and it isn't worth reporting!
The news stations can't generate national uproar about 3 white kids killing another white kid just as they couldn't see fit to report about 3 black drug dealing thugs assaulting 1 one kid on a school bus.....because it isn't "newsworthy".
If they (the stations and newspapers) can't turn the story into rating points they just aren't interested.
Sorry, but that's the way I see it, based on our daily barrage of what the media thinks we should see and hear.
