we had a late wave of them this season...they really showed up in late sept and early oct. I know a few guys who have caught several this season. One guy has caught 6 of them. Most guys are getting them on deep divers or casting metal in the rips. I normally get one or two every other year while bonito fishing. BTW speaking of Bonito...there was an epic blitz of giant bones off cape poge (they are gone now so don't get all excited). Lots of 10#+ fish breaking on the surface for monday and a little action tuesday am. I was offshore monday and heard about it when I got back. The derby leaderboard was wiped clean and I think the leader is 11.5 #er or so. Some of the guys I spoke to that were in on it said the place just lit up with surface activity all day. It was all topwater action. It was spread out and the boats were not on top of each other for the first day. Everyone one had their own school of fish to pick away at. Any bone under 10 didn't even make the board. The next day when I arrived it was a bit more combative and the fish were thinned out but a few were caught. The third day one fish was caught among the fleet. And yesterday I did not see anyone hook up.
