As has been suggested, the cloudiness is formed by moisture under the finish. I have used many different finishes and cannot say that one is more likely to cloud up than another.

Moisture can get under the finish through a crack or a chip in the finish or if the finish fails to cover all of the thread wrap. Moisture can also be wicked under the finish and into if the color preserver used on the thread (before the finish is applied) extends farther out from the thread than the finish does.

As has been observed, the cloudiness will go away when the thread dries. A topcoat of finish that extends beyond the original finish will most certainly fix the problem.
