Not necessarily because the methods of obtaining crude oil then refining it down to
a use able quality high grade motor oil is a long process....

what if you could just create it out of specialized algae instead....and eliminate
all the drilling and pumping and transporting it to a refinery.... and just make it at the refinery.
That's where the industry is heading....
that and electrical vehicles....
but the infrastructure for re-charging batteries is Not in place and we're along ways away from having that as available as gasoline .

But what if the cars themselves become the charging station....
then you have a viable method of long distance availability.
New materials such as graphene layered solar cells that are stacked ten or more thick gives you a much more
robust way of self charging. I think Detroit has to be reborn just like the Tesla
automobile company has demonstrated.
