Why isn't there some common rule of courtesy? Like bowling - "let the jack to your right go first..."

OH, it's beacuse a lot of surfers are young and have yet to develop courtesy? I realize that's a blanket statement (that also applies to anglers) but the few surfers I've run into seemed more understanding if they had a couple years under the belt...

As far as who owns it? Nobody owns the sea. But who is there first is really the ground rule IMO. As for who is first fishing? Some places you can work with someone. You get down to a breachway and there are 4+ googans camped out on the end you can at least explain and direct the rotation. They'll even listen a little more when you start to hook up...
