John, last night I hit Nuclear Earwig cove. I heard a noise and I turned around to find a 7" earwig scurrying off with one of my eels. Luckily, I found a large stick and was able to fend him off and get my eel back.

I say luckily 'cause I only bought 5 eels and I threw the first two off in 5 casts.

At least the last part of that story was true.

So, I fished from about an hour after high tide for about 3 hours. Conditions were excellent. Moderate surf, good water quality... no bait though.

One hit, one fat 30" fish. Glad to get the fish, but the fish just aren't around in any numbers yet. My last 3 trips have netted 2 hits, two fish. I guess the good news is that I'm gettin' hooks in 'em when they hit, but yikes, its slow.

I fished really well. Casts were long, I was fishing slow, I worked the beach. It was just very quiet.

Well, I hope things change in the next week. I'll be taking my dad down thursday night and sunday for sure.

I'm gonna skip tonight and take the boat out early am tomorrow. Not sure where yet. Probably the harbor. Need to find some fish out there.
