The 60's

Arnie "woo woo" Ginsburg on a.m. radio playing all the hot hits of the day. There was a carhop on route 1 north of Boston that when you went there and said "woo woo" when you ordered you would get a free order of french fries and "freedom" fries were a long way off. Could you imagine pulling up to the driveup and saying "woo woo" now you would certainly hear the "woo woo" of sirens moments later.
The 60's when living in a van was first made popular. When Jimmy Hendrix and Mitch Rider and the Detroit Wheels played a dive bar in P-town on the same night. Talk about wild, whoa boy.
The 60's when you could thumb a ride anywhere and not have to worry about getting caught up in something on the way.
The 60's when Ripple, Thunderbird, or Boones Fram apple wine were always fine until the morning after, and any beer would do.
The 60's when half kegs (15 gallons of beer) were invented for party goers, or at least whn we first discovered they were available for sale. Pick one of those up now.
The 60's when a custom made Gordan & Smith surfboard could be bought for $165.00 and spending all day at the beach cost nada.
The 60's when there was still a parking lot and a bathhouse at coast guard beach and there was a food stand at Nauset Beach the Whiting family ran and if they liked you they would let you charge food even though you were a little beach bum kid. Thanks for letting me remember somethings very dear to my heart.
