Fireline has a little more stretch and memory too it than the spun braids. Behaves better on older reels like the Penn Z's. I hate the stuff for conventionals, tho.

As far as wear goes---it does get "fuzzy" as it breaks in and softens, but I've had the same spool for 3 years on one reel (it's almost pure white now) and it's still strong enough that a 40# mono leader breaks before the 30# Fireline does.

It's way stronger than its rating---someone posted "somewhere else" that 14# Fireline has over 30# break strength
