Fast and light. I prefer 7'6" for tossing lures. That extra 6" makes for a softer tip, allowing for light lures to load up the rod, but the lower 2/3 has plenty of sack. I've landed tarpon to 100 pounds on my 7'6" 12-20 lb Star "stellar light". Now for eels I like something slower with more overall bend. 7" is just right. Very forgiving when you need to hurl the freakin things, yet powerful enough to handle mean fish.
