 Looks great to me....I like how you dropped your Newell post down below your finish stringers...exactly how I would have done it...and getting those gooseneck easings to go over the post requires great accuracy. Nice
Live2fish...the rail and fittings are joined with a rail bolt.   Its hidden and very strong and glued with carpenter glue. With oak its a good idea to "prime" or force glue into the end grain which is very porous then apply more glur
