I just ordered a single circuit transfer switch for 81$ ( Reliance Controls TF151W 1 Circuit Transfer Switch) that connects directly to my oil furnace and circuation pump. No need to hook up to the cuircuit panel. I have a generator and have run cords into the house for household items, but have never had the ability to run my furnace. With baseboard pipes prone to freezing, im not risking it anymore.
