We call then tourneys here or gatherings. Flings is a Jersey term that they use on SOL. Its a fine term but people may get confused about just who's "Fling" it is if everyone uses the same name. When I organized the first of these things a few years ago with the WMI bunch I called them extravaganzas (tongue in cheek) . Remember the "May New Moon Extravaganza"? Anyway , extravaganza didn't catch on well.
