I was there for 2 weeks about 10 years ago. We did a light-tackle salmon trip out of Seward, and a bottom fishing trip for halibut out of Homer. Can't remember the names of the boats, I will try to look that up. Very expensive to ship frozen fish back home, but worth it.

I will say this...on both trips, most of the boats came back to the docks at the same time, and everyone looked like they had similar catches.

I will also say this...I am insanely jealous. If (when) we go back, I want to do some fly-in fishing for dolly varden and sheefish and pike, in some of the mountain rivers.

I wasn't the same person when I came back from that place. I couldn't believe the spectacle, and I saw 1% of what there is to see. Spent time in Anchorage, Homer, Seward, Brooks Falls (bear viewing and fly fishing), and Denali National Park.

Highlight for me was Brooks Falls, watching the bears stand in a waterfall and catch salmon out of midair, 20 feet in front of me.

You will not regret making this trip.
