Talking why we do it

Fished in 8th annual Cuttail Classic out of our club which ran Friday night through Saturday's 3 pm weigh in. Friday night, boat problems, nada from a windyb shore. Saturday late start w/ brother and five nieces and nephews on our Beal's Island hull, rocking and rolling as we trolled for blues. One hooks up, one reels, one nets, that's how the father of five manages to fish with family. Two blues and the natives are getting restless. After washing down, I hit the shoreline, as I wanted to fish stripers and had hit the commercial bait truck for some beautiful herring.

Three casts and twenty minutes later I had a 40" beauty landed on a gnarly rock pile on Marblehead Neck. Got a nice wave to get that last three feet. Boga grip had it at 28.8 lbs, for what it's worth, ballpark at best IMO. Who says we can't get nice fish in the midday?

While I did get edged out by 1/4 inch 40 1/2 to 40 1/4, it couldn't dampen the pure pleasure I get from the opportunity to fish such a beautiful species. With 200 plus at the block party, was only right to share with friends, so was grilling for much of the night.
Haven't been out since, still grinning...

that's why I do it!
