Got my Stella 10000 back from Shimano
Well, took everyones advise and shipped it back to the experts at Shimano. It took a while but then again it's winter and probably everyone on planet Earth sent back their toys for winterizing. Anyway I have to admit I was kind of shocked when I got it back.
Let me start off by saying that I take really really good care of my gear. An easy freshwater rinse shortly after using and towel drying. I have had the reel 3 years and she got what I would consider minimal salt spray and other than that just that 3 second "dunk" at Cutty .....
They replaced 12 parts.... holy **** The interesting things is they were kinda all over in different places. So when I got the parts list with numbers that they replaced I pulled out the paper schematic that came with the reel of the Stella (along with a magnifying glass) and highlighted each replaced part in yellow just so I know. After doing this it become apparent that the tech really took this unit well apart and if you have ever seen just how many parts are in this thing it is absolutely mind boggling...I know they make jokes about it.
Anyway she is back and "silky" as ever and it cost me $44 bucks plus shipping. I found it odd that they charged me for 2 of the 12 parts, those being a worm gear and an oscillating pawl yet all the others were free ????? I'm not complaining just noting that. $30 was for the labor for the Platinum service and the 2 parts were $14.
