Why not?
Just because your side would look bad if there was an equivalence, that's not evidence that there's not an equivalence.
In Clinton's case, it was a prepared, scripted comment. Who gives a damn that she apologized? It's clearly what she feels. It's no skin off my nose, I don't especially care what a corrupt loser thinks of people on my side of the aisle. I just think it's amusing that liberals get a pass for spewing hate, but conservatives get called hateful for spewing hate.
That hypocrisy, is a big reason why Hilary lost. Many people had enough.
