It's difficult to have a serious conversation sometimes. They can't respond to what you actually say, so they respond as if I said something like "Trump is the second coming".
Nothing dishonest there, nope.
When your beliefs render you incapable of responding to what someone says, it might be time to re-examine those beliefs.
