I first met Steve around 1976 or 77 back in our hometown of Worcester at #^&#^&#^&#^&'s Tackle Shop on Grafton St. I can honestly say I never met a more enthusiastic fisherman about anything and everything fishing related. He could spend an hour discussing snaps and swivels, or line, or a new reel or just about whatever was in his mind to fool the next fish big or small of any species.
The younger fishing community of today is fortunate to have experienced some of his knowledge which he was so willing to share in his writings in On The Water, in seminars, or on the internet. His passion was contagious to the reader and I attribute a significant amount of the interest in plugmaking to Steve's discussions about the history of some of the older plugs and their creators as well as his own plugbuilding experiences. Although Steve left us too early, it's good to think of our old friends in a positive light and I hope his family is doing well.
