Not to go too far off track, but there are numerous instances where a person who was deemed by their medical doctor as "never going to walk again" finds a way (cannot be explained because of the individual's physical and mental makeup) of re-wiring their brain and starts a process of regaining use of their limbs.
Since we only use about 10% of our brain capacity, surely there is space for "re-wiring" of critical functions?
