Sorry, I disagree. I know the "striped bass forum" is not the right place to discuss this and this will be my last message on this topic here. I just want you to know where I stand. And I DO respect your opinion eventhough it differs from mine.

The russians had tried this commado war on the afgans for 10 years and got no place ..and they took a hell of a hit and for the most part the afgans "won". (and they are much closer to the problem..and the US protested the Russian invasion on afgans...kind of ironic eh?) I know we would do things differnently but it still seems like a high-risk low-reward high-cost stratagy to me.

IMO, the US did not do enough when the trade center was bombed in 93. Sure they caught some bad guys but frankly we did little to prevent it happending again. Just last October this same nutcase bombed the USS Cole and killed a nubmer of good service men and women and injured many more. Again we did squat. If this attack was not a heads up I don't know what is. I blame the aspect of not knowing about this recent attack on Clinton admin, who gutted the intel budgets to the point we now have none. It is mindboggling to me how the US could not have known about an attack like this...the planning and effort to coordinate this was very substantial. I don't blame Clinton for the attack, just for gutting our intel and therefore not knowing about it.

Re nukes. I disagree again. Nukes were designed and built as a defensive weapons to protect America and its freedom from attack. My god man, innocent people (not the milatary) were just attacked in the two key cities and the cost to the infastructure will be in the 10's of billions and the cost to the families is priceless. And our response is to send in a milatary swat team for a few years to dig this vermin out of their hole? NO. Sorry I don't buy it. Most subs and surface war ships carry nuke-tiped cruise missles that can take out the mole hill this SOB is hiding in. So we don't have to use trident D5's or ground based ICBMs...but that is still an option if we need to. I am serious. It is time to show these SOB's what strength really is. They seemed to froget what Japan did and how we reacted to that. (That was a milatary target and 2400 lives were lost during a war, this is FAR WORSE.)

I don't think you relize what these guys have been up to . The next attack on the US (and it could come anytime) could very well be Bio or Chem related. They have been testing and making this material to use on us. My fellow coworkers that I talked to are 2 blocks from the pentagon said they were really concerned that that plane that hit the pentagon could have had some on board....Just imagine what 1 million+ dead look like, and generations of sickness from this crap. Imagine not being able to drink ground water for a few hundred years. Imagine our way of life ruined forever. No thanks.

This is serious. It is them or us, it is that simple. I prefer to wipe out the whole problem region with a minimum loss to american service men and keep my lifestyle. This recent attack was a wake-up call. Americans better WAKE UP! This will not stop until we remove the problem...forever. When the rest of the world says "the US went too far"..then you know you went far enough.

Now you know how this bass fisherman feels.

Sorry for the "rant" it is just that this has me really fired up...just imagine what even a small Bio or Chem wepon attack could do to the US if it happend right now....shear panic would take over. I don't want to see that, they do.

My Solution: Full blown removal of the problem region once and for all. end of story.
