I’ve got some original VS reels including the 150.
Never any issues and fished hard.
But, I don’t think of the reel as a winch rather use the rod for leverage to gain back the line.
One time I did hook a small bluefin on the 250. Watching the line disappear fast decided to just point the rod at the fish, cup the spool to break it off at the leader and get all my braid back. Outgunned that day.
