Good article, though the core example he gives around cars is slightly flawed in that cars are a known thing.

We know car accidents because they’ve been happening for years. We’ve developed airbags, seatbelts, antilock brakes, and borderline self driving cars. All of those things exist to help solve a problem that we understand because it’s been happening for years.

The reality with Covid is that 100M is a “who knows” number. Death counts is a “who knows” number, because we don’t have enough data.

I’m not saying his decision to live his life is a bad one, my wife and I are constantly at odds over the same topic these days, because this “unknown” crap is getting exhausting and we can’t live life locked up.

But the reality is that the most we know about this virus is that we know almost nothing. And the media, government, etc aren’t doing anything to help corral that fact into any kind of comforting or easy to understand message. Which is infuriating.
