Thought I would post what I got out of family phone call with BIL in Poland. (it was all in Polish, so this is what I was told after.)
Really tough cold weather with improving forecast. He lives 30km from border, I assume where refugees are pouring in, and they are pouring in. Pols are doing everything they can to set up, house feed, and even getting the kids in school asap. He made a point that there was a lot of the highly educated who were evacuated... Coal, gasoline, and diesel almost out, but expecting coal delivery to his house Tuesday. Everyone being respectful as to what food to buy, so as to have enough available for refugees. (Imagine that here?!?!) Not as tense as in 1969 though. He knows American and German military there in force, but they are out of sight. In the forests, which are huge... Polish people are preparing, almost expecting it to come. Not good time to be a Russian in Poland, though nothing more was said about that. Shortages they will likely face are potatoes and grain, which had been coming from Ukraine. We are doing a Western Union, which he much appreciated as cash is king.
And an hour later, other BIL tells us he is headed to Poland for work this week. I have drawn my own conclusions about his work...
So clearing snow here, following world events, and just feeling so many things for the many being affected by this madman...
