And another actual fact, is that this in and of itself, is no big deal. Where's the evidence the data will be used to harm anyone?

I would, except there's no reason to believe that a law must be broken for data to be requested. All kinds of data are requested all the time, that doesn't mean a law was broken, does it?
You're trying to criticize someone, for something they haven't done yet.
