you "rig" the eels simply by hooking the eel thru the lower jaw and out one eye socket (some prefer going thu the head instead of the eye but I think that kills them) Use a quaility 5/0 hook with a sharp point. Then simply cast like a plug, once they hit the water they swim wonderful, but up to that point they squirm a bit...bring a rag to hold the critters. retrieve very slowly. Don't worry how far you cast them, reel slowly. I would only fish with them in the night. Avoid using if blue fish are in thick, they will bite you off until you have a hook with a eel head left.
The "hard" part about eel casting is setting the hook. Most newbies feel the rap of a 40 pounder and yank back only to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Let the fish swim for 10 sec before setting the hook. I know you don't beleive me but after you yank it out of her mouth a few times, try it.
