My chartplotter is raymarine and is not color, but it always reads well in any light condition.
The furuno has essentially the same looking display, but is hard to see and I have to keep changing the brite and cont.
But when the backlight is on, its really vivid..
How much more was the color (600) UNIT, i went with the BW cause of the low $ and its furuno...

I also remove the electronics when at the slip, I bought a plastic, extra deep padded pistol box and they both fit in it nicely.
