Depends on the size of the eel, maybe 75 -100 feet on my 10' Lami, more of a lob than a line drive. I don't really need to go for the long ball in my favorite spots, it's more about placement.

And the 'splat' of the snake hitting the water is a good way to ring the dinner bell.
